Latest on Re Colonization

December 6th, 2007

Update 1/9/2008: Missouri State University started 2 colonies in 2007. TKE’s and Fiji’s, both are off to a slow start-20 members each. The school feels at this time they need to re think bringing another Fraternity on in early 2008. Our timeline to “present” has been pushed back, probably to late 2008. Headquarters is very supportive of our efforts and in returning ZX to MSU. This Association has everything to do with us being a top priority to re colonize with PiKA. We will continue building our strength in membership and be ready when our time comes. Rest assured all parties are very well informed of our interests and communication with all parties will continue.

This week I learned that in early 2008 IFC will invite 3 Fraternities to “present” and select the next colonies at Missouri State University. Pi Kappa Alpha-Zeta Chi will be one of the three, the others are Sigma Gamma Tau and Sigma Nu. The timeline for the colony to begin is still unknown. MSU will contact Headquarters with the details at the proper time. The Association will assist in anyway possible.

Starting in 2008 the membership/renewal push will take on an increasing role. Our goal has always been 200+ active members, last year we were at 182. Great work for 2 years as an Association. As we get closer to colonization, membership in the Association takes on greater importance. We need to have 200+ members in the Association and have Headquarters present our Association strength along with the other benefits of PiKA.

I encourage everyone who has not renewed their membership or not joined the Association to do so. We have added PayPal credit card payment to our site to make payment easier. Those sending a check, please include your complete contact information including an email address. If joining for the first time, under “Join the Association” you can print a PDF and send with your check so your information is added to the directory. If paying with PayPal this will be done for you.

Our 2008 Annual meeting is set for Homecoming-October 2008-more to follow. We should learn much in 2008 on our re colonization efforts. Thanks for all of your support, Together We Can Achieve Great Things!

Annual Meeting 2007

September 25th, 2007

Our Annual Meeting concluded this past weekend September 21, 22, 23. It was a success with a very informative meeting Saturday morning, a good time at the tailgate party, a Bear’s win, the Bear’s are 3-1 and looking good, and a enjoyable post game party at St. Michael’s downtown.

The minutes of the meeting will be posted this week. Mike Riley, Heartland President did an exceptional job explaining the process of re-colonization. We are still in the “wait and see” mode on re-colonization, everything that needs to be done has been.

We will need to develop other areas within Zeta Chi, one being the Housing Corporation, I have asked Mac Humphries to head up this part and he has accepted. We will have a total of three areas that need to be addressed, all working separately but jointly for the main purpose, to re colonize Zeta Chi.

Pictures of the weekend will be posted under Gallery this week.

Membership and/or renewal of memberships is vital to our success. We ended June 2007 with 184 members and look to surpass our goal of 200 members by June 2008. Everyone is asked to join or renew their membership. You can find a membership form under “Join the Association” on this site. Credit card payment availability will be coming soon.

Bron Launsby has stepped up and will be the Association Treasurer, he also will be working to organize a pledge class membership drive, if you are contacted by Bron all assistance is appreciated.

Your Association is strong, we need all alumni to support the Association with membership.

Together we can achieve great things!

Renewals and Invitations

August 26th, 2007

Renewals for membership into the Association have been sent. Anyone not receiving one needs to go to “Are you ZX Alumni” and update the directory and go to “Join the Association” and print out the PDF and mail your check to the address listed. Membership is the key to our success, so I ask everyone to renewal your membership and those yet to join to do so today!

Invitations have been sent to our annual meeting set for September 21, 22, 23 in Springfield. The agenda is listed under “Events”. Mike Riley the Heartland President will be our guest speaker and bring us up to date on the re colonization efforts. The weekend is full of social activities. All alumni and guests are welcome. Remember you will need to make your own room reservations–suggested hotel information is listed in “Events”.

We have had much success within our first two years, however to maintain and suceed in our first objective-1. Re colonize Zeta Chi will require continued gowth in membership and support of the Association by alumni.

There has been changes to the Committee. Instead of having only local alumni involved in the Associatin business, we now are using a teleconference service allowing alumni from outside the area to be part of the process. The committee is made up of Jay Nicholson, David Stewart, Mike Call, Josh Nixon, Tim Nichols-KC Chairman, Jeff Counts-St. Louis Chairman, Craig Neiderstadt-Texas Chairman, Bill Perry, Dan Seely, Barry Johnson, Mac Humphries, Kent McPhail and Jim Roebuck.

On behalf of the Committee, I would like to personally invite all ZX alumni to our annual meeting Sept. 21, 22, 23 in Springfield. If you have any questions or concerns you may reach me at (417) 882-3266 or jcr4362@sbcglobal.net.
